چکیده
From the Departments of Surgery, The University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Alexander Blain Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. Great progress has been made in recent years in the surgical treatment of syphilitic and arteriosclerotic aneurysms as well as other lesions of the aorta (1, 2), but very little advance has been made in the treatment of dissecting aneurysms. Recognition and management of dissecting aneurysms of the aorta.
The current approach to treatment at St. Mary's Hospital of dissecting aortic aneurysms uses a period of induced hypotension before aortography and consideration for surgical correction. There are 13 survivors of a series of 24 patients treated in this way.

Mycotic aortic aneurysms account for 1–3% of all aortic aneurysms. The management of this disease is controversial. Since open surgical repair is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, endovascular aneurysm repair is an alternative treatment method with promising early and midterm outcomes, although its long-term durability is unknown.Secondary aortoenteric fistulas may occur iatro...
متن کاملEpidemiological features of ruptured dissecting and saccular aortic aneurysms.
An analysis based upon necropsy figures has been made of the frequency of deaths with dissecting aneurysms and ruptured fusiform or saccular aortic aneurysms. More deaths from these conditions were found at necropsies conducted on people dying suddenly in the community than in those dying in hospital. Dissecting aneurysms were nearly all found to involve the thoracic segment of the aorta and we...

To know the characteristics of mortality from aortic aneurysms in Japan, the age-adjusted and age-specific mortality rates of the diseases were calculated based on the Vital Statistics of Japan published from the Statistics and Information Department, Minister's Secretariat, Ministry of Health and Welfare. The overall age-adjusted mortality rate increased 24.8-fold from 0.43 to 10.98 per 100,00...
متن کاملSpontaneous aortic rupture early postpartum without trauma or connective tissue disorder.
Rupture of the thoracic aorta is a rare but recognized complication following pregnancy. The common causes of thoracic aortic rupture in the peripartum period are trauma, dissecting aneurysms and saccular aneurysms secondary to systemic connective tissue disease. We report a case of non-traumatic spontaneous aortic rupture in a patient without trauma or systemic connective tissue disease 1 day ...
